Repair
Revive your battered fleet and keep the war machine rolling forward.
Repair is a foundational mechanic and General ability within the Advance Wars universe that ensures armies remain operational on the battlefield. Unlike standard combat actions which destroy enemy units or capture territories, Repair focuses on restoration, allowing damaged vehicles to regain their full health points. This capability transforms wounded tanks and fighters into viable assets again without requiring them to retreat to an expensive Orbital Cannon or a distant base.

Lore & Background
Beyond the tactical advantage, Repair represents the spirit of camaraderie in Advance Wars. It is the act of a commander refusing to abandon their troops, ensuring that every soldier and machine under their command gets another chance to fight for their cause. This dedication to preserving life and equipment often defines the difference between a desperate retreat and a triumphant counter-attack.
In Their Own Story
The smoke from the burning forest still hung heavy in the air as General Hana surveyed her battered line. Her once-proud tank division was now a ragtag group of smoking hulks, their turrets scarred by enemy fire. 'We can't hold this ridge much longer,' her lieutenant warned, pointing to the advancing enemy infantry. Hana nodded calmly, tapping her comms unit. 'Not if we let them break us.' She moved her command vehicle forward, adjacent to a critically damaged Super Tank. With a single order, the repair drones deployed from her base, welding armor and patching engines in seconds. The tank's engine roared back to life, its cannon swiveling with renewed purpose. 'Let them come,' Hana whispered as her restored line fired in unison.
Reader's Guide
The Repair ability allows a General to restore one unit of health to an adjacent vehicle for the cost of one fuel point. This is distinct from the standard 'Repair' action available at bases, which costs no fuel but requires the unit to be on the base tile itself. Tactically, this ability is most effective when used on high-value units like Super Tanks or Artillery that are low on health but still capable of dealing significant damage. It prevents the need to retreat these powerful assets to a safe zone, maintaining offensive pressure. However, players must manage their fuel carefully; using Repair drains the General's movement range for subsequent turns if they run out. There is no cooldown period between uses, meaning a General can theoretically repair multiple units in a single turn as long as they have sufficient fuel and are adjacent to each target. This makes it an excellent tool for stabilizing a crumbling front line before launching a counter-attack.

- Repair is one of the few abilities that works on all standard vehicle types, though Hover Tanks are not part of the main Advance Wars series canon.
- Generals with the Repair ability often have lower attack power compared to offensive specialists, emphasizing a support role.
- Using Repair does not cost fuel from any unit's supply, as CO Powers and unit abilities do not consume Fuel Points.
- In multiplayer matches, denying an enemy General the chance to repair can be just as important as destroying their units.
